I just learned how to make immune-boost gummies so the kiddos will take it without a fuss!
Here is the recipe....
If you don't have immune boost then here is how to make it:
1c. astragulus root slices
1 c. elder berries
1 c. rose hips
about 20 shitake mushroom caps
put all in a 1/2 gal. pickle jar and add a large bottle of vodka.
Shake daily for 3 weeks. Decant and put in a quart jar to use all year.
Now for the gummies!
1/3c. water
1 c. immune boost
9 pkg. gelatin
2 pkg strawberry or raspberry jello
mix all together and put on the stove to simmer.
Simmer gently until all gelatin is dissolved, then a bit longer to evaporate the alcohol.
pour into a Pyrex liquid measuring cup with spout and carefully and quickly pour into gummy or other candy moulds. ( I used peppermint candy moulds) then let cool to set.
They are perfect gummies! The kids tested them and they are lovely! With this size they only get 1 per morning or add every 4 hours if a cold is brewing. If you have gummy bear size dose would be 2 for older kids 1 for younger. This batch made 118 gummies.
At $4.50 for the gelatin and $1.00 for the jello. These great healthy gummies are very cost effective. To get immune type gummies in the health food store would cost about $24.00 for 96.
Thank you Kirsten for the idea!
