Memorial Day
Memorial day for many is a day to be off work, party, visit family....A day to remember that men have lost their life in the persuit of our freedom. A freedom that we so often take for granted. I also like to remember our men who have not lost their lives to this cause, but also those who are still alive. A dear friend and I's husbands have been to the desert fighting and returned. My friend's husband is still there right now having given up his own freedom to be with his family so that we don't have to say prayers to Allah, but we can pray as we choose without having to fear death or jailing. I hope you will take a moment to say thank you to the God of Heaven, the God of Isreal, for the lives of these brave men, both living and dead, for giving us this freedom. I pray that we never forget this and start to give these freedoms away. That we will use this day to remember these things. So I give my shout out to these men. Thank you! We really appreciate you!

Pioneer Day
When I was a kid, I used to visit every plantation home and pioneer day from GA to NC. I was obsessed with being in the era of the 19th century. Now I have gotten my wish to be a part of the reenactment of these heritage days. I never imagined that my lifestyle would be an advantage when it came to being invited to be a part of these events, but I can truly thank my my father for making me learn to weave, it has been a real blessing.Here are some pictures from our latest Pioneer day, Gwinette County, GA. This was the McDaniel's Farm and Homestead. It was saved as a historical site by a member of the McDaniel's family. When you drive there you would never know that it existed from the looks of the car lots and Malls that have gone up all around it. I am glad that that 126 acres was saved. When you drive into the park, you can't even remember that you were just on Satellite Blvd. It is a place I recommend visiting sometime, they have the park and home open all the time and you can schedule tours with an appointment.
this is the school teacher at pioneer school.
this is the 2 girls ready for school. They actually look like they belong there!
Here is the school.
this was one of my classes. I was teaching how to do rush weaving on small stools.
here was the resident weaver. Faith really took to it!
This is caitlin getting me some water for the class.

These are just some others I liked. All-in-all we had a great day, had a homeschool adventure and met some new people. I love learning!

native american prophecy 2
This is the first part of a native american prophecy of our modern world. I though I would site it on my blog for the sheer fact that it should be seen by many. Please pass it on if you see fit.
You can find the other parts on youtube under indiginous native american prophecy. There are 6 parts and I highly recomend them all. There is no fear, only fact. For us believers the end of days is a glorious event to be looked forward to.

Here is a wonderful video. I seem to be having trouble viewing it on my computer, if you can't see it, check native american prophecy 2 post for how to see it. Awsome documentary for the whole family.
The joy of cooking
I have just found a great way to make two meals at once. You take garbonzos and bread dough and poof, new favorites! I love felafel, and hummus, but I had never made a great batch of felafel without a box. So in my search I came across this recipe and it has revolutionized my lunch time. I can make a batch of quick dough and soak some beans the night before, then in the morning put on the beans to boil, about 2 cups dried. Then when done, mix up into this recipe:Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour, 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 60 minutes
Ingredients:
* 1 cup dried chickpeas or 16 oz. can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans.
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
* 3 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
* 1 teaspoon coriander
* 1 teaspoon cumin
* 2 tablespoons flour
* Salt
* Pepper
* Oil for frying
Preparation:
Place dried chickpeas in a bowl, covering with cold water. Allow to soak overnight. Omit this step if using canned beans.
Drain chickpeas, and place in pan with fresh water, and bring to a boil.
Allow to boil for 5 minutes, then let simmer on low for about an hour.
Drain and allow to cool for 15 minutes.
Combine chickpeas, garlic, onion, coriander, cumin, salt and pepper (to taste) in medium bowl. Add flour.
Mash chickpeas, ensuring to mix ingredients together. You can also combine ingredients in a food processor. You want the result to be a thick paste.
Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball. Slightly flatten.
Fry in 2 inches of oil at 350 degrees until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
Serve hot.
WHile that is cooking preheat your oven to 500 degrees and put in a pizza stone.
Then take the dough from the night before and make it into 2 inch balls. I usually make 20 so that I can have them another day. Then roll out four and let them rest until the oven is hot. Then put them on the stone and bake for 5 min.
You have pitas! You can then make hummus from the exra garbonzos you have using this recipe:
2 cups or more cooked garbonzo beans,
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
3 garlic cloves
some red pepper flakes(to taste)
parsley dried or fresh
and salt to taste
put in a blender and blend until smooth.
Store in glass or tupperware dish.
Then you can put it all together with some colored peppers, spinach, tomato and monzerella cheese and you have several quick lunches.
I love this one so much, that I freeze some of the felafel for later ones.

New Babies
Our bantam hen just hatched her first clutch. She is the proud mother of 8 little ones as of now, but still some more to come. My family sat enraptured by the event.
We had never seen baby chickens hatch in their natural environment. The little mother is so good with the babies.
She is so hungry from sitting with them all day awaiting each new arrival. My daughter fed her some Cheerios and she gobbled them up while one of her first born tried to peck at it. It is amazing to see this little life, just dried and fluffy already making its way in the world.
God put in each new creature the love of discovery and a will to live. My children named the first born Curious George, because he has to be told by his mother to come back, because he loves to wander and explore. One of them is so timid, preferring to only peak out from his mother's wing feathers to look at the world. Funny, who thought baby chicks would have such different personalities. I am so glad we got to witness yet another of God's simple miracles.

Awww, to be an artist
I have always wanted to express myself in artistic ways. I loved to draw and paint and write poetry, when I was young. As an adult I have turned those things into household artistry. Sewing my children's clothes and then stalking them to see my work. Painting a room just the right shade of yellow to offset the orange and browns in the floor. To see a piece of furniture I am working on go from an old nasty worn-out old thing turn into a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that was once laboured on by strong hands with a dream. To see how yarn turns into socks and how a tiny seed can die in the ground and turn into an amazing flower with petals so deep and rich in color that no man has ever duplicated it. Amazing.....
I never pictured that life would be the tapestry in which I would paint or my lawn the canvas in which to draw my pictures. Or that I would hear living words being poured out in my life. I didn't create any of this. It was designed for me before I was even created. It was written in the fabric of my soul, just as my children were within my womb at my birth. How wonderful to realize I am seeing now how the stories and pictures in my head,as a child, live. Enacted in my everyday life.
The power of our creative ability is lived out in our lives. What we wear, what we drive, what kind of house we live in...the types of relationships we have, what types of disease we suffer from....But what are we creating? The car we drive, the house, the clothes: all expressions of how we see ourselves, not what or who we really are. The relationships, our health; all impressions from an earlier time. Impressions, expressions; all words that speak of Art. We express in our creative abilities the impressions that we see and the unique way we see them. We are making art constantly! Every thing we act out is an expression of something in our minds. The truth of our creation is that we were ourselves created. God created us to be who we are, to have the minds that we have, that see the world the way we do. And He,being the best artist,saw us first in his mind before he put us on paper(here on earth,) so to speak. What we have, and the children which came from the Love we shared with our husbands, was all partnered with God. It is His expression, based on the Impression that he loved us and wanted to have lots of children. Then he created us in Love.His is an expression of life...Those are the real works of art. I am so glad that God gave us Jesus, his child, so that we could be co-creators with him, seeing things through his eyes.We are actually being artists with the one who made art, who made through nature in all its glory and beauty, so that we could mirror all our images off of his. So as we can express it in our daily affairs. If we see everything we do with that in mind, nothing will seem mundane anymore!

Harvest Time!
When the day is done, and I am tired as all get out. I have cooked, cleaned, gardened, and fed chickens and children. We are winding down, going to gather eggs, water the plants still in the green house, and see if there is any food yet to be harvested, and find the strawberries ripe, the lettuce full, the spinich green, the swiss chard tall, the radishes bulging from the ground and the onions starting to push up from the earth, I realize how truly blessed I am. I gather in the harvest and look at the abundance on my counters and thank God for giving us the fruit of the vine. Once apon a time, the first man was cast out of the garden and cursed to toil the earth for his daily bread. Now here I am 6000 or more years later and Jesus has died and risen again so that my work, of tilling the earth, is no more a curse, but the gift of the fresh food a rich blessing! Thank you Lord for my boutiful harvest!

Herbal Apprentice
My daughter declared 2 years ago that she would never be an herbalist. "They don't make any money", she said. Yet here she is making her brother some pills the day he had a sore throat. She got out her book looked up what he would need, ground them up mixed in some honey and made some pills. She prescribed him to take them 2 pills three times a day, and made sure he did...The next day, he was good to go! She definitely has the healing gift. She may not ever call herself an herbalist, but she will take good care of anyone who comes her way!
