Homesite

I thought I would post pictures of the homesite. It is 3/4 of the way cleared. There is still 6 trees to fell, but we finnished the brush work today. All-in-all, it has taken approximately 20 man hours. Why, you may ask did this take so long? Well because the tractor wasn't running and this was cleared using 5 people at a time(4 boys and 1 adult which veried), a hand saw, hatchet, and an ax, and a chainsaw.

So, tomorrow I will update with the last pictures of the homesite, hopefully completed. Unfortunately the chainsaw was semi-crushed by the large oak tree that we have decided is out to get us. It has apoxy on the gastank drying currently. But for now this is what we have.

This will be the road to our house. I say road, not driveway, as it takes about 5 minutes of walking to get to it.

Before...

other side, before.

During clearing process. We have burned once and have 2 more piles to burn.

Here is one of the other piles

Housesite, mostly cleared.

Our nice piles of log wood. This is the far right side of the homesite. The trees left standing will actually be part of the interior structure of the house.

This is the far left side of the homesite.

This is the back area of the homesite

View from middle of where house will sit. the 2 trees will be gone.

View from what will be where our kitchen and front porch will overlook.

View from back of homesite. 2 trees on left will be gone. The tree on the left front will be left. It is a great big oak. After that one oak almost kicked my husband's butt, he decided to move the house over by about 10 feet and back by 5 feet to avoid all other white oaks. This is good. We have a lovely dogwood at the back of the house.
